Fall 2016 Regional Meetings

The Water Sustainability Act (WSA) came into effect on February 29, 2016, bringing with it an expanded Groundwater Protection Regulation, and groundwater licensing under the Water Sustainability Regulation.  Our 2016 regional meetings in Parksville and in Prince George were held in tandem with Information Sessions on the WSA (see RESOURCES tab on our website for more information).   Consultants, drillers, and pump installers were in attendance, along with a variety of groundwater users, including representatives from the mining, pulp and paper, farming, cattle rearing, and water utility sectors.

At our other two meetings, held in the Fraser Valley and in the Okanagan, attendees enjoyed talks on well disinfection, sensitive contract language, insurance, and ongoing water quality protection initiatives at Interior Health.
