Groundwater and Well Pump Fundamentals

Time: Thursday: 8.30 – 4.30pm
Time: Friday: 9 – 12pm

Includes 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, coffee breaks, admission to the MeetNGreet, and access to the Convention including the President’s Banquet.

SkilledTradesBC (STBC) certification exams will be offered at the 2025 convention for three classes of well driller (Water Well Driller, Geotechnical/Environmental Driller, Geoexchange Driller) and for Well Pump Installers. In order to take the exam, applications must be received and approved by STBC no later than March 14th 2025. The application review process takes a minimum of two weeks. Therefore, if you have not already been approved to take the certification exam, your application must be received by STBC no later than March 7th, preferably earlier.

All applicants who wish to take the exam at the 2025 Convention must inform the BCGWA by March 7th. To register to take the exam, or if you have any questions, contact the BCGWA at general-manager@bcgwa.org.

Water Well and Geotechnical/Environmental Well Drilling Fundamentals

Description:

Join instructor Mike Wei as he explains the governing principles related to diversion and use of (ground)water in the Water Sustainability Act (WSA), the rights and responsibilities of licensees, the common impacts from diverting and using groundwater in BC, and the data that can be collected to assess impact of pumping on nearby wells (well interference), sustainability of the aquifer (mining), stream depletion, and salt water intrusion.
