SkilledTradesBC (STBC) certification exams will be offered at the 2026 convention for three classes of well driller (Water Well Driller, Geotechnical/Environmental Driller, Geoexchange Driller) and for Well Pump Installers. In order to take the exam, applications can still be accepted but there is no guarantee they will be approved in time. The application review process can take 4-6 weeks. Therefore, if you have not already been approved to take the certification exam, please apply promptly. All applicants who wish to take the exam at the 2026 Convention must inform the BCGWA A.S.A.P at accounts@bcgwa.org to register to take the exam, or if you have any questions, contact the BCGWA at general-manager@bcgwa.org.

Join instructor Mike Wei as he explains the governing principles related to diversion and use of (ground)water in the Water Sustainability Act (WSA), the rights and responsibilities of licensees, the common impacts from diverting and using groundwater in BC, and the data that can be collected to assess impact of pumping on nearby wells (well interference), sustainability of the aquifer (mining), stream depletion, and salt water intrusion.
