Salt (Sodium Chloride)


The Canadian drinking water Aesthetic Objective for sodium is 200 mg/L. However for people on low-sodium diets this level is likely too high.

High concentration of salt can come from leaching of salt storage piles, road salt, seawater intrusion, or naturally salty water. High levels may affect taste and cause corrosion to pipes, pumps and plumbing fixtures.
